Tokimeki Memorial 4's menus are in English
Patch v0.24 is built, and the TM4 main screen doesn't have any Japanese left on it.
What's in English now
- The stat bar: Humanities, Sciences, Art, Looks, Athletics and Guts, with HUM, SCI, ART, LOOKS, ATH and GUTS on the badges
- The Condition heart, the RICH coin and the eight mood cards
- Every pill on the command star, plus the button guides and the date line
- All 144 skill banners, the Skills screen and the battle items
- Save and load screens, system messages and the Options screen
- The name entry screen, with room for six letters in each name
- The phone: Phone Book, Inbox, Newsletters and Profiles
- The whole prologue, with English speaker names
Picking the words
Some of these took longer than you'd think. The mood cards go Great, Not Bad, Fine, Meh, Awful, Frazzled, Hurt and Sick. 身支度 is getting yourself ready for the day, so it became Dress Up; "Grooming" was the literal option, and it reads wrong on a dating sim menu. 漢度 is Manliness.
The OK button that was lying on its side
One label refused to show up anywhere. The 決定 next to the circle button on the command star wasn't in any text table, and searching the game's images for it turned up nothing. The picture is stored rotated 90 degrees, so it never matched. Once it was found, it got redrawn as "OK" and turned the same way.
What's left
The menus are close to done. The story is the big part: e-mails, mail magazines, endings and every conversation. I'm translating those myself, a scene at a time.
