Tokimeki Memorial 3 v0.51: a beach day and a summer festival

Patch v0.51 is built. Summer break started in my game, so this round is all about Makihara and two of the best dates so far: a day at the beach and the summer festival at Moegino Shrine. I translated both as I played them.

A day at the beach

We met at the station and took the train out to Hikarigahama. Makihara was already melting by the time we got there.

Makihara, a girl with short red hair and yellow ribbons, wears a white off-shoulder top outside a beach station and shades her face from the sun. She says "It's hot today, isn't it~..."

I kept her tildes here. She stretches out her words when she's relaxed, and it felt wrong to flatten that.

A crowded sandy beach with swimmers, beach umbrellas and lounge chairs under a bright blue sky. Makihara says "Sorry to keep you waiting~~"

Then comes the big question, and you get three ways to answer it.

Makihara in a pink swimsuit on the beach asks "H-How is it... this swimsuit...?" with three answers to choose from: "It doesn't really suit you", "It looks cute on you" and "It looks sexy".

I picked the mean one so you don't have to. She took it pretty hard.

Makihara looks down sadly with her eyes closed on the beach. She says "Y-Yeah, you're right... As I thought, it doesn't suit someone like me."

After swimming we stopped at a seaside house for something to eat, and she thought it looked like a set from a TV drama.

Makihara smiles with her eyes closed outside a seaside snack bar called Sea Lane. She says "This place could totally be a filming spot for a TV drama, couldn't it? The atmosphere is really nice."

The summer festival

The shrine festival is a yukata date, and Makihara shows up in a pink one with a sakura print.

Makihara in a pink sakura-print yukata at the entrance to a shrine festival at night, with red lanterns and food stalls behind her. Duniphin says "Makihara-san, you came in a yukata."

She asks how it looks, and the answers here were fun to work out. One of them in Japanese compliments her on putting the yukata on properly, which is a real skill. That became "You put it on just right," and she tells you afterward that it's harder than it looks.

Makihara in her yukata with a hand at her chin asks "Yeah... how is it?" with three answers: "It's alluring, isn't it?", "It suits you perfectly!" and "You put it on just right."

There are game stalls at the festival too. One of them is a game where you flick a little toy frog onto targets, and I named it Frog Flip.

Makihara in her yukata among busy festival stalls with masks hanging behind her. She says "There's an interesting-looking stall over that way. Apparently, you can win prizes playing games." The choices are "Let's play Frog Flip", "Let's play smart ball" and "Let's just look."

And of course we ran into Yabe.

Yabe, a round-faced boy with glasses in a blue yukata, stands beside Makihara at the shrine at night. He says "Yo. Things are heating up, huh, you two? Showing off like that~"

Makihara stands alone at the shrine at night after Yabe leaves. Duniphin thinks "(He's definitely plotting something nefarious...)"

He wouldn't say why he was there alone. I have my suspicions.

A call from Shiratori

I skipped club practice one day, and that night Shiratori called to let me know. Very kindly. He only called because Yukiko-san asked him to, and he made sure I knew that. If I skip again without telling anyone, I'm out of the club. Hahaha...

Little fixes

  • The menu where you pick what to call a girl had its English choices running into each other. They line up in neat columns now.
  • The exam results board shows everyone's full names with a space, like "Duniphin Sara," instead of running them together.
  • The band in the town magazine is called Shikisai now, in English letters on the poster too.
  • The walk-home menu uses English quotation marks.

What's next

Translating the Frog Flip and smart ball instructions, the prize screen, and more of summer break.

There's no patch to download yet. When there is, I'll announce it here.

Unofficial and made for fun.
